Dysport and Dermal fillers
Are you starting to see wrinkles when you look in the mirror? You want to see the young appearance you carry in your head reflected in the mirror… and anything less can be distressing.
Fortunately, today’s advancements in technology allow us to address this problem more effectively than ever before. Allowing you to hold on to that youthful reflection you want to see in the mirror. Two methods used to achieve this involve neuromodulators and fillers.

What Are Neuromodulators?
You’ve already heard of neuromodulators through one of the most popular brand names – Botox®. Neuromodulators also go by the term neurotoxin, but whether the technical or brand name is used, Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and other neuromodulators all do the same thing – affect signal transmission of neurons. When used strategically, Botox®, Xeomin®, and Dysport® allow facial muscles to relax, creating a smoother, more youthful appearance.
A Strategic Approach To A Youthful Appearance
Having the correct tools and strategy is vital in any endeavor. With that in mind, we offer an array of targeted solutions, each geared to different areas of difficulty.
In addition to Dysport®, we also offer options, including Sculptra® – which combats facial wrinkles by stimulating the skin’s natural collagen production and, by extension, its elasticity. For those whose needs include restoration or enhancement of the cheeks, chin, middle face, or lips, another in-house option is Restylane®.
How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
Results will vary according to treatment. Factors such as where the injection is made, which dermal filler is used, and the patient’s metabolic rate all can affect the longevity of each treatment.
On average, the range falls anywhere between a few months to a few years, with 2 to 4 months often being common. However, people who are very physically active tend to metabolize the injection faster, so for athletes who regularly engage in high aerobic activities, it might only last two months or less. Similarly, exposure to heat, such as a sauna, accelerates the metabolism of the toxin.
Our physicians will consult with you to develop a customized treatment plan for your specific situation and give you a realistic general idea of how long you can expect each procedure to last.
What Is the Best Age for Facial Fillers?
If you’re seeking a lip flip for slightly fuller lips, lip filler for more significant changes, or fixing a flaw in your nose… then your early 20s is an appropriate age. Most people have no need for facial filler (such as Sculptra®) until their 40s. Of course, age and genetics affect people differently so these cases can vary.
Are Dysport and Botox the Same Thing?
While related, the two are not the same… despite their common use as a non-invasive means of combating encroaching wrinkles. Different fillers have different consistencies. After a careful evaluation of your goals and needs, we choose either a softer or firmer product, depending upon the area being treated. For example, lips typically receive a softer filler, while cheekbones usually receive a firmer version.
When it comes to Dysport® vs Botox®, the difference lies in concentration. While the two share the same composition, the lower concentration in Dysport® allows the injection to spread through the affected area more rapidly than Botox®.
Dysport’s® more frequent application is in the treatment of glabellar lines – or “frown lines” – where the injections are applied to the area between the eyebrows to provide a smooth and natural look.
How Long Does Dysport Really Last?
In the average case, a Dysport® treatment’s effects last between three and four months. Usually, three to four treatments a year are enough to maintain positive progress. However, differences in metabolism, as well as other factors, can cause a variance in the longevity of each treatment.
How Long Does Botox Last?
As it is with Dysport®, how long Botox® lasts will vary, based on several factors. In general, Botox® lasts about 3-4 months, but metabolism, among other reasons, could make it last longer, such as 4-6 months, or have a shorter duration, such as only two months. For most people, though, a Botox® treatment lasts about 3-4 months.
Is Sculptra a Filler?
No, Sculptra® is not a filler. Instead, it’s an entirely different product category that can help boost collagen formation. It will plump up the injection site due to its water content, and then within a day of the injection, the water is absorbed, and collagen formation begins. The results become noticeable within three months.
Sculptra® is best used for dehydrated and wrinkled skin and can be used around the eyes, mouth/lips, cheeks, and neck. It is typically administered as a series of three injections, each done one month apart, creating a more youthful appearance. Sculptra® can also be used to improve and enhance the appearance of your buttocks, including enhancing its natural curve.
